knotgen exists to create 3d printable versions of mathematical knots. It covers every prime knot up to eleven crossings and every prime link in the Thistlethwaite tables, plus two parametric families: torus knots and links, and weaving (Turk’s head) knots, whose lobe count and strand count you choose directly. Knots up to eight crossings and the parametric families come out symmetric and nearly flat; the larger ones use tightened “ideal” conformations with an organic, pulled-rope look.
Each knot can be previewed, checked against a tube diameter so the sweep will not self-intersect, and exported with a frame along the curve so that an LED strip can follow it. A companion Fusion script imports the curves, builds the strip surface, sweeps a profile and places connectors at even intervals to fabricate larger knots that can be printed in one piece.
